Anyone taking up a position in a club should have their references checked even if you know them well.
You should obtain two references in writing, (the request for references should only be sought for preferred applicants). It is best practice to request references as part of a safe recruitment process. This reduces the risk of someone targeting a club or organisation to gain access to children.
Clubs should have guidance for social media use.
Clubs should provide guidance to everyone associated with club about social media use. This could be as simple as adopting the National Governing Body’s guidance or the club could seek guidance from external organisations. A code of conduct is only for young people
To achieve a positive experience in sport we believe that organisations and clubs should “sign up” to agreed codes of conduct. Sports coaches/ volunteers should contact their governing body for sports specific codes of conduct. These guidelines should be for:
